Overview

The ELFR-1-QD is the same part as our ELFR-1 LED flasher relay, however it has the quick-disconnect connectors installed on the wires as shown in the image. This connector will fit some OEM flasher relay sockets. Check the compatibility list for bikes that are known to have compatible OEM flasher relay sockets.

This list will determine if your motorcycle harness is known to have a relay socket that is compatible with the quick-disconnects on our ELFR-1-QD Flasher Relay! If your bike is not on this list, please check the connector on your OEM flasher relay before ordering this part. Our standard ELFR-1 unit is plug-and-play compatible with many motorcycles.

Note: If there are no specific connection instructions below for your motorcycle, you must follow the "All Applications" hard-wire installation instructions to identify the wires in your motorcycle relay socket with a test-light or volt meter before installing this product. Improperly installing the ELFR-1 will destroy it.

LED tail light/ turn signals

I have a 2000 Ducati 748. Use to be my track bike and now I have put it back on the road. I bought the integrated LED brake and turn signal. It was a very straight forward installation. I did have a couple questions about the install. I reached out to their customer service, and they got back to me the same day. The lights a quite bright. The way the product is made, allows you to keep the stock lens. Overall, I’m very happy with Custom LED.

Helder, thank you for your 5-Star Review! I have to point out though, you should toggle the switch on the circuit board for RED ONLY operation, as you are using the OEM RED lens. The amber turn signal LEDs do not properly project through the red lens, and is only recommended for use with a clear aftermarket lens for proper visibility. Jon Owner - Custom LED

Good but wish there were better directions

It works, wish it had specific information for the yanaha raider like the location of the stock relay and how to attach the signal wires.

Exactly what I needed!

I didn't want to cut into my brand new bike's wiring harness & start splicing, I wanted a plug & play remedy that could easily be reversed if necessary. There wasn't a relay for my bike listed on their site, so I called. One eMail & $22.00 later, I had a relay for my bike! Please note: when I made that phone call, Jon could've easily said "no, I don't have one", but he didn't, he asked me a few questions, asked for a photo of what I had, & he took care of me. I really appreciate that, thats good service, & that's rare these days. So if you don't see what you need on their site, call them, maybe they can help you too!

Hi there, 2004 Honda VTX 1800N(2), I need a relay for LED. Original relay has 8 pins. Should work for DLR. If you don't have one with same pin configuration, give me a solution to adapt what you have, please. Thank you.

Hello Constantin, no one makes a relay that will replace the 8 pin blinker control module on your bike. Instead, you need to use Load Equalizers when switching to LEDs: https://www.customled.com/collections/universal-led-load-equalizers Jon Owner - Custom LED

I installed the ELFR-1-QD relay on my 2015 Yamaha bolt. The front turn signals are stock and the rear are LED. Neither of the turns signals will flash when switched on. Do the front turn signals need to be LED also for this relay to work? I have the RED(ELFR) wire plugged into Brown/green and the Black(ELFR) wire plugged into brown/white.

I have a 2012 Royal Star Venture and am not familiar with similarities and differences between Yamahas. But I can provide you the anecdotal evidence that I have LEDs up front and stock in the back and the ELFR-1-QD fixed the hyper flashing to normal blinking. (I tried LEDs in the back and it was the same, but oddly enough the four-way hazards became hyper flash.) Good luck.

I put the relay into my 2014 Bolt in Dec and it works well. I had stock bulbs and replaced only the bulbs on the front flashers for LED white/yellow switchbacks (from Amazon). Happy to share details and/or discuss.

Hello Kevin, the ELFR-1-QD will work with any combination of lamps, LED or Incandescent or both. If it's not blinking, it's either mis-wired now, or was at some point mis-wired and damaged. Did you blow any fuses on the turn signal circuit while the ELFR-1-QD was installed? This would indicate a hard short was drawn through the flasher relay. The no-blink condition (steady lit) is a failure mode of the ELFR-1-QD. Although I'm not familiar with the wire colors on the Bolt, the correct wire arrangement will be exactly the same as shown in this image: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4226/files/Flasher-Relay-Roadstar.jpg?99 . I have a 1978 Honda GL1000 Goldwing using a electronic flasher Model G215-EB. I replaced the front and rear turn signals with led lamps 1156 and 1157 (18 leds in each at 360 degree). When I installed led turn signal indicator lamps I get the hyper flashing lights. With the incandescent indicator lamps the new turn signals flash correctly. Any suggestions how to correct this to use the led indicator lamps.

Hi Mike, Generally speaking, replacing the OEM flasher relay with our ELFR-1-QD Electronic LED Flasher Relay is the best way to maintain the stock blink rate after removing any of the OEM turn signals. However, the Raider has a self-canceling turn signal feature which will be lost if you replace the stock flasher relay. For those who insist on maintaining the self-canceling turn signal feature, you must use our 25-Watt Load Equalizers to slow down the blink rate. If you are used to canceling your own turn signals and don't care about the feature, then you should replace the flasher relay with our ELFR-1-QD, as this is the correct way to control the blink rate on any motorcycle with LEDs installed. It is highly recommended that you correct the blink rate on your motorcycle as the fast blink rate is a failure-mode of the stock flasher relay, and the overall turn signal system does not perform as well as a result. I have a 93 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. I have two colored wires for the flasher relay plug. Orange and orange with a green strip. I know next to nothing by about reading a wire diagram. Which one would be the hot and ground. I have ordered an lfr1 q relay and it hasn’t arrived yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Alan, I'm not familiar with the wiring on your particular bike, but you will see in the compatibility list for this flasher relay, in the Kawasaki section, that the Ninja 250R instructions have the same wire colors as your bike: Motorcycle Orange/Green stripe wire to the ELFR-1-QD Red wire Motorcycle Orange wire to the ELFR-1-QD Black wire Most likely it would be the same on your bike, but you should confirm first by reading the markings on the OEM relay. L indicates Load (connect corresponding socket to Black on ELFR-1-QD) and B indicates Ignition Power (connect corresponding socket to RED on ELFR-1-QD). If there are no markings on the OEM relay, then you would use a test-light or volt meter. Remove the OEM flasher relay, turn on the ignition, and see which pin in the OEM connector has +12V. This is your Ignition power. I should also mention that installing the flasher relay backwards will likely damage it, so please do your due diligence. Regards, Jon Owner - Custom LED
